Clothing Collections

We are hugely grateful to the three clothing companies (Smart Recycling Ltd; Eurotex Ltd and Anglo Doorstep Collections) who continue to make regular collections in various areas of the country (North Yorkshire and surrounding area; West Yorkshire and the South of England) because the money they raise enables us to carry on supporting cancer patients and their families, as well as making donations to further the work of eye tumour research.

These are booked collections and they are advertised on community facebook pages, where all details are given about how to book a collection.

Many thanks to everyone who has already donated clothes etc and thank you in advance to those who plan to donate in the future. We really appreciate your invauable support.

Happy Christmas

We would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and to say the biggest thank you for the amazing support you have given to Wendy's Wish this year. It has been a year like no other but, thanks to your generosity, we have raised in excess of £27,000, in spite of having to cancel our planned ball. We are hugely grateful to Smart Recycling Ltd, Anglo Recycling Company Ltd and Eurotex Ltd for continuing to organise clothes collections and for raising the vast majority of this year's money. Take care everyone and stay safe.

LIVERPOOL OCULAR ONCOLOGY RESEARCH GROUP

We are delighted to be able to help these wonderful people with their continuing research into all forms of ocular melanoma (eye cancer) and their mission to improve patient care and survival. We would like to say another HUGE thank everyone who has supported us so generously, thus enabling us to make this donation of £10,000. Disappointingly, at the moment, we are unable to visit the LOORG team in Liverpool but hope to be able to sometime next year.

Lockdown Hampers

We realise that lockdown will have been particularly challenging for those people who have cancer and we wanted to find some way of giving them a treat. We have been distributing hampers to cancer patients in our area and have received some lovely comments:

‘What a wonderful gift, it’s beautiful thank you’

‘How lovely what a surprise! Thank you’

‘It’s so kind. Thank you for thinking of me’

This is exactly the sort of thing Wendy would have wanted us to do and we’re very grateful to Fodder, of Harrogate, for making up these lovely hampers and to all the health care professionals who have distributed them for us.

Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church

We would like to say a massive thank you to the members of Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church, for their very generous donation of £500, and a special thank you to Martyn and Gill Holman for suggesting our charity.
We would also like to say a very big, if rather belated, thank you to the members of Wigginton and Haxby WI for the generous donation they collected when we gave a talk.
It's 41 years since Bill and I left Wigginton, but we still feel a strong bond with the church and community and have been overwhelmed by the level of support from our many friends there. 🌈🌻

Royal Liverpool Hospital

We were delighted to be able to present this cheque to the Royal Liverpool Hospital, to enable them to buy equipment which will further their work in finding a cure for eye cancer. As ever, we received a very warm welcome, and it was great to meet up with Lauren, the head of fundraising, again. Since setting up Wendy's Wish, we've donated a total of £38,900 for eye tumour research and had previously raised almost £8,000 with Wendy's help. We'd like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve this fantastic sum of money and we look forward to continuing our support for eye tumour research with further fundraising events. 🌈🌻
